PNG U-21 girls one up in invitational netball series

first_imgIt was a tightly contested match with both sides neck and neck in all four quarters.PNG took an 11-10 lead at the first break with shooters Boio Peter and Japerth Tulapi given the responsibility to steer the home side to a win.By halftime, the score was at 22-21 with PNG still in the lead.PNG Coach, Unaisi Rokoura made changes in the midcourt in the third quarter to get the attack end moving.But Singapore’s Lee Pei Shan and Cheryl Lee kept the scoreboard ticking over keeping Singapore in the contest.At the end of the third quarter, the score was 33-31 in favour of PNG.It came down to the final 15 minutes of the match that saw PNG surge home for the win.Peter and Tulapi gave PNG some breathing space taking a four point lead with 6 minutes left on the clock.But Singapore fought their way back with a flurry of goals only to fall short by one point at the end of the final whistle.The second friendly will get underway today at 4pm. The last match of the friendly tri-series will take place tomorrow.last_img
